SHAPE America – Society of Health and Physical Educators recommends that children get 30-60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity each day. Unfortunately, students cannot meet this recommendation in our physical education classes alone. In an attempt to increase the amount of physical activity for our students outside of the school day I have created the Stay Fit Challenge. Different Stay Fit challenges will be offered throughout the year. Students who choose to participate in the challenges will be given a handout at the beginning of each month. At the end of the month students will bring in the completed handout, signed by a parent, in return for a toe token. After completion of their first Stay Fit Challenge, they will be given a bracelet to add their toe tokens to. This is a great way not only for your child to increase their physical activity but for you as well. You are their biggest influence! Get active and have fun!
