• Government careers are often people-facing positions where employees are hired to serve and/or analyze our society.  

• The way members of our society communicate with each other has changed as a result of computer science.  This article explains how communication has been impacted by technological advances over time.   In addition, the way in which we use data to study our society has also changed significantly as our ability to manipulate and use data has improved.  Analysts seek to not only study what has happened in the past but to use predictive analytics to guess at future behaviors as well.  All of these innovations come with positive and negative effects on our society, economy, and culture that impact this field.  

• To be prepared to use technology in the future of this career field, you should take courses that help you to not only understand the impact that computer science has had on the field of communication and analytics, but also pursue courses that provide you with tools so you can also make a great impact throughout your career.
