Cinderella's Castle GIF

Grade 8

The art assignment that was the most challenging for me this year was the GIF landscape. I persevered by making sure to take my time while doing the project. For the location, I chose Cinderella's castle because of how it reminds me of my childhood.

Flower Field GIF

Grade 8

Mrs. Maldonado

The location of my GIF landscape is a flower field. I particularly chose this place because going to any flower field is something I've always wanted to do. Humans have a special relationship with flowers as a lot of the time they can evoke emotions. Standing in a field, while the wind blows along with the clear blue sky is like finding pure tranquillity. Just from observing, smelling, or touching nature, you can appreciate the small things that the world has to offer.

Portland Headlight GIF

Grade 8

Mrs. Maldonado

The art assignment that was the most challenging for me this year was the GIF Landscape because it was my very first time creating a project in Pixilart. All my life, I have loved creating non-digital art like drawing and painting. This experience was unique and difficult, but interesting and inspiring at the same time. I chose this location because the Portland Headlight is my favorite place/lighthouse of all time. My family and I visited it during our summer vacation in Maine, and the Portland Headlight is one of our most treasured vacations. To me, lighthouses are peaceful, relaxing, and calm places. When I think of a lighthouse, I remember a nice breeze through my hair, the sound of seagulls and waves crashing against the shore, and the scent of the salty air from the saltwater. All of my hard work has truly paid off, and this art assignment has turned out to be one of my most valued pieces.

Martha's Vineyard GIF

Grade 8

Mrs. Maldonado

This artwork is my favorite because it is of a place that is special to me, Martha’s Vineyard. I go there with my extended family during the summer and I have a lot of memories there. It was challenging to use pixels to create a scene, but it was fun to make. I liked experimenting with different colors and adding different textures, like in the water and the grass.

New York City Skyline GIF

Grade 8

Mrs. Maldonado

This artwork can share one of my personal experiences because I lived in New York City while I was in kindergarten. I have many memories of New York and tried to put in some of the places where I had those experiences. For example, Central Park, Empire State Building, and the Statue of Liberty. All of these places bring back great memories of my time in New York.

My favorite art project this year was pixel art. The reason for this was because I’ve never really tried many other art styles other than pen and paper but pixel art was very fun because it gave me a new perspective of different forms of art. I also learned new techniques for pixel art which was fun in case I would want to try doing pixel art again. Finally, I really liked this because it was something I would probably never do in art classes so it was really fun trying something new!
