The President shall preside at the meetings of the association and at meetings of the Executive Board. He shall, with the Secretary or Treasurer, sign all contracts and written obligations of the Association.
In the absence of the President, the Vice-President shall preside at meetings of the Association and the Executive Board. In the case of the incapacity or absence of the President from the state, the Vice-President shall act in his place in the signing of contracts and other obligations of the Association.
The Treasurer shall collect the membership dues and all other monies due the Association. He shall keep the accounts and shall pay all bills which have been approved by the Executive Board. All funds of the Association shall be deposited in a bank or banks in the name of the Association, as may be designated by the Executive Board.
The Secretary shall give notice of all meetings of the Association and the Executive Board. He shall conduct the correspondence of the Association, keep the minutes of all meetings and shall be custodian of all documents of the Association. The Secretary shall automatically be designated as the Assistant Treasurer and shall assume the duties of the Treasurer in the event of incapacitation.
The Sergeant At Arms primary duty is to keep order within the association and at all it’s meetings. In insuring order, the Sergeant at Arms has the authority to assess fines and/or removes unruly members. A secondary duty is to act as the chief parliamentarian.
The Association shall biennially at the muster as a floor vote elect officers and meet annually for the election of five (5) members of the Executive Board, and for the transaction of other business proper to come before the Annual Meeting of the Association, at the time and place to be determined by the Executive Board. The terms of the officers so elected shall be for a two year period, and the Board members for two years, from the date of the annual meeting, or until their successors are elected.
The Executive Board may by its own vote constitute itself the nominating committee of this Association, or may authorize the appointment by the President of a nominating committee for Officers and Executive Board members. No less than thirty (30) days prior to the date set for the annual meeting of the Association, this nominating committee shall designate its choice for nominations to be acted upon at the annual meeting. Such nominations shall not preclude the offering of other nominations from the floor for any or all officers and board members so nominated.
Election of officers and board members at the Annual Meeting shall be by written ballot or the raising of hands. At the time of the Annual Meeting, the President may appoint two (2) tellers to serve at that meeting who shall, if necessary, count the ballots or hands and certify to the Secretary the results thereof.
In accordance with our by-laws the positions at the right are biennially elected by membership ballots. Due to restrictions under the current pandemic, we are conducting the election through an on-line voting platform. Votes may be cast via google survey at the following link:
Current members may cast one ballot. Voting will remain open through the last day in February. Expired members may renew anytime on or before 28 February 2021 in order to validate any vote cast. Members may also mail in a hard copy of the ballot to 142 Westville Avenue Ext, Danbury, CT 06811.
