Have a

HeART for ART

Miss Vincent

I have been teaching Art for 16 years in the Whittier City School District and at Katherine Edwards Middle School. I am committed to creating an enriching artistic environemnt for my students, providing educational and artistic opportunties, making cultural and communitiy connetions in the arts, and continually developing as a professional to further enhance the program for my students.
Most recently I taught at Pioneer Middle School, Mt. Sac, and Rio Hondo College teaching Summer School during the summers.
Additionally, I have set up a You-Tube channel, Michelle Vincent art, to aid in Distance Learning.   I believe every student deserves access to the tools and resources needed to succeed academically, personally, and artiscally.    Especially during these difficult times, it is so important to work in partnership with the school, parents, and teachers to help our student artists reach theri goals. We are in this together and are creating the "heART of Whittier" through the Arts.
I am so blessed and thankful to be the Art teacher at Edwards.
Sincerely,
Miss Vincent

Artistic Mission & Art Classes Overview

Studio Artists and Art Media students will work in partnership with parents, the school, WCSD, and the community to ensure learning and artistic opportuntites are avaliable to every student to reach his/her optium potential and have a positive impact on the global society.

Through creative learning opportunites that emphasize artistic excellence, academic growth, personal maturity, and emotional growth, the heART of ART seeks to affect positive change in the school and community it serves.

Studio Art:

As people walk by the Art Room, the sounds of laughter are heard and bright colors and beauty can be seen as artists are expressing themselves through the Arts. Besides painting, in the past few years, I-pads have been fundamental in the studio art classroom.  Artists use I-pad technology to watch You-Tube videos the teacher has created to showcase art techniques and lessons, to research paintings or drawings they want to study, and to take pictures of their artwork for their portfolio. Studio Artists will have different art shows to display and recognize their artwork within the community.

Art Media:

Art Media students are mastering different programs and learning how to create professional work at a young age.  Teaching the fundamentals of photography is key and also composition, so that any art media design can be stellar.  Artists will gain skills and expertise in PicCollage, Canva, Mandala Creator, Silk Paints, This is Sand, How to Draw Anime, Sketchbook, and Draw Expressive. Artists use I-pad technology to watch You-Tube videos the teacher has created to showcase art techniques and lessons. They will also create a digital portfolio that they can take with them to High School and College.

Teamwork makes a Dream work as studio artists have transformed Edwards Middle School with murals throughout the campus!  Each hallway has a different Cultural theme
