Q: What can I do for extra credit?
A: Extra credit isn't offered in my classes, but retakes, rewrites, and re-dos are. Because retakes/rewrite scores REPLACE the original score, students can improve their grade with a retake much faster than with an extra credit assignment or project. See the Policies page for more.
Q: Is there an online textbook?
A: World History students will find a version of our textbook online. Although it has a different organization than ours, the content is almost identical. Find a link to it on the World History and Honors World History pages.
Q: Where can I find the Zoom links?
A: All Zoom links are posted in the Google Classroom for each class. Only registered students have access to them.
Q: What if I miss a Zoom session?
A: You can find a link to past Zoom sessions in the section of your Google Classroom called "Past Zoom Links". They generally appear there a few hours after the actual session. You can watch them to see what you missed, then complete a form to show that you've watched them. Since not all students are able to be online at the same time, it's important that you take the time to see what you've missed.
Q: What if I forget to mark myself Present when I do work in the Google Classroom? Will I be marked "Absent"?
A: Teachers need to complete daily attendance by 3:30 pm each day, so if you mark yourself present after that time you will be marked absent in Skyward. However, if you work later in the day and mark yourself present using the form in your Google Classroom, that absence will be changed to present the next morning. This is done to allow students the greatest flexibility in completing their work while still meeting the school and state requirements for accurately recording attendance.
Q: I came to today's Zoom session? How come I was marked absent?
A: Zoom sessions are a daily requirement, and are treated like an assignment. By attending and participating, including opening and closing chat questions, you are completing part of your daily expectations. However, there's more to do, including assignments and activities related to the Zoom session and the work we are doing that week. When you do that work you should mark yourself "Present" for the day by completing the short attendance form.
Q: I retook a quiz / reading check and got a better score but it isn't in Skyward. How come?
A: Even though your quizzes are scored and returned to your email automatically, Skyward scores are entered manually so they will usually appear the next day. However, if you've taken the same quiz multiple times in the same day, you might not ever see that higher score appear. This is because only the first score per day on any quiz will be entered into Skyward. If you want that higher score, wait a day and try again. If you've improved your learning and your notes, you should be able to get it again, no problem.
