Credit Promotion & Retention

CREDIT PROMOTION

In order for students to be promoted from one grade level to the next, students must earn a required number of credits.  Failure for a student to earn the required number of credits will result in the student being retained to their current grade level.

• Students must earn at least 5 credits to be promoted to Grade 10.

• Students must earn at least 11 credits to be promoted to Grade 11.

• Students must earn at least 17 credits and be eligible to graduate to be promoted to Grade 12.

FAILED COURSES

Students are strongly encouraged to make up any failed courses required for graduation in a credit recovery program.  Whitehall High School offers courses through Educere, an online educational program.  Students will be notified at the end of the school year of any course that can be made up through a credit recovery program.  In the event that a particular course is not offered through Educere, arrangements must be made with the counseling department to attend another approved credit recovery program.  All LCTI students who fail major coursework at Whitehall High School are encouraged to participate in credit recovery so as to graduate on time and continue their studies at LCTI.  Any exception to the above policy will be reviewed by the high school administration with final approval by the building principal.
