Service Learning

What is Service Learning?

Service learning is is our way of finding a need in the community while also learning lifelong skills of leadership, teamwork, decision making, problem solving, and how to become a better public speaker.

Our Latest Project

Our latest Service Learning  project was Operation Santa's Workshop. The idea was to give a Christmas to less fortunate children in the community. In 2018, we realized a lot of children weren't as fortunate and didn't have the same Christmas experience as the rest of us. So as a whole, we decided to put an end to it. We decided to band together with our community and collect toys and clothes for children of all ages. We also had the help of our student council to collect food. It was a huge success. We fed ten families, as well as distributed toys and clothes to forty one families from our community. The left over toys and clothes were donated to Sautee Nacoochee Christmas festival for them to continue to distribute. Some of our goals for next year include starting our collection and promotion of our event earlier.

Who's Involved?

Our Goal

Our overall goal was to give Christmas to children in the community and to help encourage the people of the community to help others in need.

Making It Happen

We started collecting our toys and clothes a couple weeks before the big day. We decorated boxes and placed them throughout our community. A few of us also collected from stores who wanted to donate. To help promote the cause, we went to the community Facebook page as well as the newspaper.
