Extra-Curricular

Whitby Collegiate offers a range of extra-curricular activities - subject to student interest, and can get involved with groups such as:

Students are welcome to start new extra-curricular groups that are not currently run at Whitby Collegiate. Please talk to one of your music teachers to discuss setting up a regular rehearsal space.

Decanta Laudem

Our choir, Decanta Laudem, is a SAB (3-part) choir that meets twice a week. The choir performs at special school events and represents Whitby Collegiate in the annual Big Sing regional choral competition.

Rehearsals:

Bands

Our jazz and rock bands are made up of enthusiastic and talented musicians who find joy in playing and performing together whether as a feature piece or as background music. They are strongly encouraged to perform in our Music Showcases.

Rehearsal:

Barbershop

We welcome all confident and willing singers to push the limits of their normal choral comfort zone; the rewards are impressive! Barbershop centres around relatively simple melodies, singing in four-part harmony without accompanying instruments (a cappella).

Rehearsal:

Ukulele Club

The Ukulele Club welcomes all students and teachers who enjoys playing the ukulele, singing, having fun or would just like to learn how to play in an ensemble.

Rehearsal:

Taiko

Taiko drumming is a traditional form of Japanese drumming, distinguished by their powerful sounds, rhythms and choreography. The group performs in a number of events throughout the year, within school during assemblies and annually at the Polynesian Festival. All students are welcomed to join!
