Thank you for taking the time to read any questions you may have below about our 2025-2026 AP exams!
If you have anything that was not answered, please reach out to our AP coordinator, Mrs. Ann Nemeck (ann.nemeck@cobbk12.org) or our AP Testing Support, Mrs. Amanda Brown (amanda.brown@cobbk12.org).
Students, remember:
Be on your best behavior
Be respectful to the test proctors
Get a good night's rest
Eat a filling breakfast and/or lunch before coming to your exam
You've worked hard for this moment, so you can only try your very best!
Students, also remember:
Do NOT have any prohibited devices on you while testing as this could invalidate your exam (smart watches, phones, smart glasses, recording devices, etc.). It is a great suggestion to leave all electronic devices other than your laptop at home.
If you are in the Arena, all your belongings will remain at the top of the Arena, unmonitored, near the trophy case. This means if you have anything valuable you wish to not worry about since it will be unmonitored, then leave it at home.
If you are in the Arena classrooms/offices/copy room/PAC Conference Room, all your belongings will remain near the proctor.
Do NOT try to look on anyone else's devices as this could invalidate your exam if your proctor suspects you are trying to copy/cheat
Do NOT bring in any outside papers; everything will be provided for you
Do NOT fill-in any information until your proctor tells you to do so or this could take a longer time to start your exam
Please read our FAQs about our AP Testing protocols here at Wheeler!

Where do I check-in for my exam?
You will check-in with a form of picture ID (student ID, driver's license, passport, or picture in StudentVUE you can show on your phone) at the OUTSIDE doors of the Arena near Holt Rd.
You will be given a testing location (Arena, Arena classroom, etc.) and a seat number at check-in
Place all your belongings minus your laptop, pencils/pens, laptop charger, and any additional testing materials (calculator or straightedge) in the assigned location
Wait to be checked in by an adult and released to go to your assigned seat
Do not walk through the school to get to the Arena to get to the check-in; walk around from the front of the school
Students should only be dropped off at the front of the school to walk around to the front of the Arena (see map above). STUDENTS SHOULD NOT BE DROPPED OFF NEAR THE CROSSWALK IN FRONT OF THE ARENA.
Student drivers - DO NOT PARK IN THE VISITORS' SPOTS AT THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL OR YOU WILL RECEIVE A TICKET!
What if my school laptop can't hold a charge for very long or it gets a low battery during my exam?
Remember, students, including COLA students, must use their Cobb County school laptop for all AP exams except paper exams. No personal laptops will be allowed. All homeschool testers will be provided a school laptop with a default login.
There will be charging stations available during the exam if a student's school laptop needs to be plugged in due to a low battery.
There will be an option to use another school laptop if a student's school laptop needs to be switched out due to their laptop becoming unusable.
What if I'm taking a morning and afternoon exam on the same day?
You should have at least 15 min. between your morning and afternoon exams to be able to eat a snack or light "sack" lunch.

Right after you are dismissed from your morning exam, please plug in your laptop to charge as much as possible before your afternoon exam.
There will be charging stations available during the exam if your laptop needs to be plugged in due to a low battery. You will need to raise your hand for the proctor to give you permission to move to a charging station.
***NEW POLICY: If a student attends the morning exam but does not attend the afternoon exam, they will not be allowed to late test the afternoon exam and will forfeit all payment for it.***
What can I do on my 10-min. break?
Because students may go on breaks at different times, you can get your provided snacks and eat them quietly.
You may NOT get on your phone/any device during this time as this could invalidate your exam if you are suspected of looking up information.
You may NOT talk about the exam with anyone as this could invalidate your exam if you are suspected of sharing answers/information.
What if I need to use the restroom outside of the 10-min. break?
You will need to raise your hand for the proctor to give you permission to leave the testing area
Only one student is allowed to go on an "unscheduled" break at a time
Your testing clock timer will NOT stop
Will I be excused for my AP exam?
Absolutely!
We do not expect students to attend their normal class schedule if they have an AP exam due to the check-in times for AP exams.
Students will be excused for the entire day if they have an AP exam.
Will I be able to ride the bus in the morning or afternoon?
Do not plan on riding the bus as your transportation on the day you have an AP exam, especially if you have a morning exam.
If you have a morning exam only, you can use the bus in the afternoon.
If you have an afternoon exam only, you can use the bus in the morning.
If you arrive to school in the morning when you have an afternoon exam only, you must attend your classes until 11:10 AM (you will need to let your 2nd block teacher know you will need to leave at this time to check-in for your afternoon AP exam)
Most afternoon exams will go beyond 3:30 PM for students to be able to catch a bus in the afternoon, so a plan for student pick-up will need to be coordinated.
When can I expect to be done with my exams?
Many exams have different lengths of time they are given.
You can follow the estimated timeframes below:
Do not walk through the school to get to the Arena to get to the front of the school; walk out of the Arena outside doors and around to the front of the school.
Students should only be picked up at the front of the school (see map above). STUDENTS SHOULD NOT BE PICKED UP NEAR THE CROSSWALK IN FRONT OF THE ARENA.
What if I have a competition the same day as my exam?
If a student has a high-stakes academic or athletic competition such as State, National, or International at the same time as an AP exam, they may request to take their exam during the late testing window (May 18 - 22) at no additional charge.
Please email our AP coordinator, Mrs. Ann Nemeck (ann.nemeck@cobbk12.org) or Mrs. Amanda Brown (amanda.brown@cobbk12org) as soon as a competition conflict is discovered for a late test to be ordered.
The latest date a student or parent/guardian can reach out in regards to a competition conflict is by 3:30 PM April 3, 2026 (the Friday before Spring Break).
What if I'm late or miss my exam?
Late
You may still take your exam if the proctor has not started reading the instructions
If the test has already started, unfortunately, all payment is forfeited for that exam, and a late exam will not be ordered.
This includes if a student chooses to ride the bus in the morning and does not arrive on time (please read the 'Will I be able to ride the bus in the morning or afternoon?' section).

A student becomes very ill during their AP exam.
A student's school laptop stops functioning during their AP exam and a device swap does not resolve the issue.
There is a school-wide or widespread technical issue or outage.
A make-up/late AP exam will not be ordered for the following reasons:
A student cannot provide an official doctor's note for missing due to being sick (parent email only will not be sufficient).
A student has a morning and afternoon AP exam on the same day and leaves before taking the afternoon exam OR misses the morning exam and takes the afternoon exam.
A student brings a personal laptop and no additional school laptop is available.
