In this cheerful ABC board book for toddlers, the letters of the alphabet race up the coconut tree in a bright, bouncy chant—until the tree can’t hold them all and they come tumbling down in a chicka chicka BOOM! BOOM! What happens next? Little readers will love finding out!
With bold, high-contrast art from Caldecott Honor–winning illustrator Lois Ehlert and joyful rhyming text by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom is a read-aloud classic that introduces letter recognition and phonics in a fun, memorable way.
Your task as your read the book-Draw a Picture or Write a Sentence
This summer, your child will be given the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom 123 and ABC workbook. As part of their summer reading, students will be asked to draw a picture or write a sentence or two about what they liked in the workbook and explain why.
The workbook will give your child an opportunity to practice line tracing, holding a pencil and learning letters and numbers. We encourage you to support your child with these activities in a fun, relaxed way.
Project Directions
Using a blank sheet of paper, your child should:
Choose one activity they liked the most from the workbook.
Draw a picture or write a sentence about what they liked.
Be ready to explain:
Why did they like this activity?
Due Date: September 2, 2026
This does not need to be fancy.
Please allow your child to take the lead.
We look forward to hearing how your child decides what they like and why as we begin our new school year together.
