Hello, My name is Hannah Porter, and I am Walnut Grove's school counselor. With over eight years of professional experience working with youth. My career has been deeply rooted in leadership and a commitment to youth development within Greene County.
I began my professional journey as a correctional officer, where I quickly realized the critical need for early intervention in the lives of young people. This realization led me to a transformative role at the Greene County Juvenile Office. There, I was instrumental in developing a diversion unit, aimed at providing vital resources and interventions to youth under the age of 18 and their families.
In 2023, I embraced a new challenge and became a pre-K-12 school counselor at Walnut Grove R-V School District, my alma mater. This role has allowed me to address the unique challenges faced by students in small, rural schools and significantly expand my impact.
My Professional Philosophy: I believe that relationships are the catalyst of change. By pouring into our students, investing in them, believing in them, and encouraging them, we can create a supportive and empowering environment for growth.
