The WHY Behind PILO's Pro Humani-5K

PILO's mission is to celebrate and support students who use their law degrees to serve the public and their communities. These students are planning to enter the public interest arena after graduation, which usually means taking unpaid, summer internships in their area of interest.

Whether it be helping children involved in high-conflict custody cases, assisting judges in their work, supporting domestic violence victims at Legal Aid or a district attorney's office, these mission-drive students are leveraging their skills and education to help others.

Choosing to take an unpaid internship, however, can be a difficult decision. Without the funding that PILO provides, students are faced with the dilemma of either taking out additional loans and working outside of their full-time internships, or accepting a paid internship in lieu of one that allows them to serve the public good.

Ultimately, PILO wants every law student who desires to take an unpaid, public interest internship to be able to do so without the financial burden. And we can't do so without your help!
