Stay tuned for information about the 2022 5k!

Thanks to everyone who participated in PILO's Second Annual Pro Humani-5k on November 6, 2021!

We were excited to hold our second virtual 5k after our resounding success in 2020! Participation in the 2020 PILO 5k surpassed our expectations and we know we expanded even further in 2021 with your help.

This socially-distant virtual fundraiser supports mission-driven students who are seeking justice and serving the public by interning for legal services organizations, nonprofit organizations, public defenders' offices, prosecutors’ offices, government agencies, international humanitarian groups, policy organizations, and more.

And the best part is that you can literally participate wherever you are! All you need is a pair of running shoes, a phone to record your time, and a place to run. If you registered by October 15th, you received a packet with race information, day of race instructions, and t-shirt prior to race day. Registrations after that date were not guaranteed a t-shirt by November 6th. If you were in Winston-Salem, we had a 5k route mapped for you on Wake Forest University campus, which was included in your race instruction packet. The PILO executive board ran on campus at various times throughout the day and you were welcome to join them!

Whether you're in Winston, North Carolina, or beyond, we hope you'll join us next year to support law students who embody Wake Forest's motto - Pro Humanitate - and who leverage their legal degrees for the good of their neighbors, communities, and all of humanity.

FAQs for PILO's Pro Humani-5K

What is a virtual 5K?

Unlike a traditional 5K, a virtual 5K means you complete the 5K on your own, wherever you want! Participants simply choose their own race location, whether its a treadmill, local park, or neighborhood street. Participating in PILO's virtual Pro Humani-5K allows you to support public interest students, just in a safe and socially-distant manner. Plus, you don't have to be in Winston-Salem to participate!

Is there a specific running app I should use to record my time?

No! All that's required for PILO's Pro Humani-5K is that you submit a race-time screenshot which displays the distance and the time. We do, however, recommend a few running apps that you can use and have included instructions on how to downloaded and use those specific apps.

How Long is a 5K?

3.1 Miles!

Do I have to Run?

Nope! You can walk, jog, run, skip or dance your way through the 3.1 miles.
