The Wake Forest University School of Law Alumni Bar Coach (ABC) Program allows for Wake Forest Law graduates to provide mentorship, encouragement, and support for recent graduates of Wake Forest Law who are taking the Bar Exam for the first time.
Members of this program are invited to foster connections and relationships throughout the entire Bar admission process in order to create spaces for recent graduates to feel the value of equitable, inclusive professional relationships.
Wake Forest School of Law Bar Support Program
The Academic Excellence and Bar Support program at Wake Law oversees the program by executing the following responsibilities:
recruitment, screening, and pairing of mentors and mentees,
development and planning of programmatic themes, events, and workshops, and
evaluation of participant feedback.
Our Expectations for Alumni Engagement in ABC
As an assigned coach in ABC, we expect you to engage with ABC in the following ways:
Attend a meet and greet event to initiate and build an ABC relationship. This event will be scheduled in March, and there will be both in-person and virtual opportunities to meet your assigned group.
Receive training materials by email on how to effectively engage with your ABC group throughout their journey. These materials will be provided bi-weekly throughout April and May.
Communicate with your ABC group once a week during the summer study schedule. You will be supported by Wake Forest Law AEP for messaging and content themes.
Make a personal phone call or hold an individual zoom with each of your ABC members one week prior to the Bar Exam in late July.
Join us for a special recognition and celebration post-Bar Exam.
Provide feedback for improving the program for future WakeLaw Graduates.
Note: An additional opportunity for our North Carolina ABC coaches is that you will be invited to attend lunch with your ABC group during the Bar Exam in Raleigh, North Carolina. This is optional.
You may be assigned more than one recent graduate studying for a bar exam, but you will not be assigned more than five (5).
Our Expectations for Graduate Engagement in ABC
As part of the ABC program, each graduate will agree to the following expectations:
I will participate in all ABC opportunities, including meet and greet events.
I will engage with my ABC Coach, which includes promptly providing requested information.
I will respect my ABC Coach's time by not missing appointments without providing 24 hour notice.
