This class fundamentally changed the way I think about digital literacy. Before EDU 101, I considered myself digitally literate since I knew how to use technology and navigate media. However, as the semester progressed, I discovered how much I didn't know. Jonathan Milam’s talk on accessibility specifically helped me realize that being digitally fluent also means thinking about inclusivity regarding who has access to what I create. I also learned a lot about myself through the Enneagram workshop with Liz Orr since, as a Type 6, my tendency toward loyalty and preparation influences my approach to collaboration and storytelling. My experience using Adobe Rush in my podcast and digital story also dramatically expanded my digital literacy skills and allowed me to think more intentionally about how sound, images, and pacing affect a message. After leaving this class, I’m walking away not just with technical skills, but with a deeper passion for using my voice, story, and digital fluency to advocate for a more equitable world.
