Inspired by the 24hr Play Festival and the 1440 production at Luther College, basically the entire premise is we are rehearsing, staging, choreographing and performing an entire musical in just 24hrs. To be clear, as some have asked, this is not a 24 hour long musical, the show is only 60-70 minnutes-ish but the act of putting it together takes place in just 24 hours. Auditions will take place March 14th & 15th, and then we will cast the show and actors will be given their scripts and resources to learn all the music and memorize lines on their own. Then, on March 31st, at around Noon/1pm (schedule logistics still being finalized) everyone shows up, off book and we hit the ground running! We will teach all the choreography and blocking and will work all through the night (sleep schedule TBD haha) running the show to then eventually have a performance at the beginning of Wakeville.
Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
