To preface, there is absolutley NO PREVIOUS EXPIRIENCE REQUIRED! This is just meant to be an opportunity for anyone who wants to perform in a musical and have fun doing it! Auditions are fairly simple, there is two parts, the vocal audition and the dance audition.
For the vocal audition, each slot is 5 minnutes, and it's individual. Please show up at least 10 min before your allotted time to fill out the audition form. You'll pick one of the song cuts below from a character that you are interested in and just come in and sing it for us. We will play the music track, so no need to worry about bringing a speaker or anything ;) Not all the roles in the show have a vocal audition side, I just picked a few characters. If you are only interested in an ensemble role, please still pick one of the options as we would just like to hear you sing something!
For the dance audition, each slot is 30min, and it is in groups. No preparation necessary for this one, you'll just show up in clothing and shoes you are able to move in, and then our choreographers are going to teach you a short combo from the show. With this we are not looking for exactly perfect form/skill, we are primarily looking for who can pick up on the steps quickly (as we are on a bit of a time crunch ;) and who puts their best effort into it.
We are hoping to cast as many people as possible, so please come audition, don't be afraid, all are welcome! Please reach out to Zac Anderson if you any questions andezd21@wfu.edu
READ THE SCRIPT! The script is attached at the bottom of the home page on this website, we highly reccomend you read thru it to familiarize yourself with the show! Trust me, if you come into the audition understanding the world of this show, you're gonna do so much better.
MAKE BOLD CHOICES! We want to see your take on these characters, make them your own. We are reimaging the "traditional Seussical" with this production, so don't be afraid to try something new! Make it unique. We'd rather see you having fun with the character and maybe not hit every note exactly right, than sing everything perfectly but being boring af.
WARM UP! Take some time before your audition to warm up your voice and your body, I promise you it's gonna help.
SHOW UP ON TIME! Please come at least 10 minutes early to your allotted vocal audition time so that you have enough time to fill out the audition form.
HAVE FUN! Please DO NOT take this too seriously. This show is gonna be a blast, and we're doing it simply to give people an opportunity to be in a musical this year and gave a good time. It's kind of hard to take this script seriously at times and we want to lean into that. Disclaimer: This show is not going to be perfect and that's ok. This is entirely student-run, so don't worry we're not intimidating.
