About Me

This is my 15th year in education, and I have taught or counseled a range of students - from Pre-Kindergarten all the way to upperclassmen at the University of Arkansas. I am very excited to be at West Fork High School!

I earned Ph.D from the University of Arkansas in 2017, and my area of passion/research is helping students to navigate barriers to success in rural and high-poverty settings.

Suicide Prevention

Sadly, suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death for children aged 10-24.  To prevent even one loss of life at our school, the Lifelines curriculum is taught to 8th grade students during classroom guidance lessons.  This program, Lifelines: A Comprehensive Suicide Awareness and Responsiveness Program for Teens teaches students to recognize the warning signs of suicide and provides resources to help themselves and others that may be dealing with this issue.

Parents, please take a moment to watch this video produced by the Mayo Clinic.  It provides you with helpful information from the view point of teenagers about warning signs and how to talk to your child if you're concerned about suicide or depression.

If your child is talking about wanting to kill him or herself, please get help immediately. There are two places in Fayetteville you can take your child to be assessed and provided support.
