Final Project: Design and execute a comprehensive Public Relations (PR) campaign celebrating your local community. Research, highlight, and promote unique local assets to foster civic pride and encourage community engagement.
How: Work with a small group to create a 3-minute video ad campaign and PR pitch that you will present to the class. Choose one special area to focus your ad campaign and PR pitch on. Include video proof of your group visiting and engaging with the special area you focus on.
Geography & Environment: Parks, trails, natural landmarks, and conservation efforts.
Local Flavor: Historic diners, regional dishes, and small food businesses.
Leisure & Shopping: Independent boutiques, small businesses, seasonal markets, and recreation spots.
Sports & Spirit: Local athletic leagues, stadiums, and sporting traditions.
Education & Programs: School achievements, unique specialized programs, and clubs.
Community Resources: Literary hubs, community event programming, community organizations, and community-focused resources and support organizations.
Project Deliverables: Your 3-minute video ad and PR pitch must include the following.
Logo- Sketch and digitize a logo for your campaign.
Brand Statement- Write a 3-sentence summary explaining the logo's meaning and design choices.
Research & Discovery Brief- Include information about your target audience (demographic profiles of residents and visitors) and an analysis that includes strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and attributes of the local area.
Creative Media Kit- A professional press release formatted for local media outlets; A 2-week content calendar and social media plan featuring localized hashtags and graphics; and a 3-minute promotional video ad campaign that incorporates your logo and focuses on one of the special areas highlighted in the "How" section above.
