Warm Ups

Warm ups should include both body and vocal warm ups. It is extremely important to warm up your voice before singing. Just like how athletes warm up (Stretch, etc.) before a game musicians also need to warm up before performing. Warming up your voice before singing will allow the muscles to stretch and prepare for singing. A proper warm up should be about 10-15 minutes long and consist of body stretches, breathing exercises, and vocal exercises (starting with sirens and lip trills to gently wake the voice up).

Your voice is a very delicate instrument that you have to properly take care of. The way sound is produced is by your vocal folds (vocal chords) vibrating together from the pressure of air that you supply.
