FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions:

I am not a freshman, can I still sign up for the Global Scholars Program?

Yes, you may still sign up and work towards earning the Certificate of Global Competence.  You will still need to comply with all requirements, including four years of a foreign language.

Will the Certificate of Global Competence help my chances of getting into a college or university?

While we cannot speak for individual admissions offices, you can relay to post-secondary schools your commitment and work towards achieving the certificate.  Being a Global Scholar is a positive recognition on your transcript.  Senior year, Global Scholars are also recognized at the Awards Ceremony in May and graduation in June.

On the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) website, it says students are required to take 4 credits of coursework.  How come WFB says to take 8 credits?

The DPI uses a 1/2 credit system, whereas WFB uses a whole credit.  They equate to the same amount of required coursework.
