The broad theme for our speeches is 'Kaitiakitanga' and the guiding whakatauki is:
'Manaaki whenua, manaaki tangata, haere whakamua - care for the land, care for the people, go forward'
You can check out the Rehu Tai site here for resources and ideas. There are Kaitiakitanga/Turangawaewae resources on the site (topics, proverbs, quotes, and words from a range of languages). Choosing only 1-3 words to explain could be a great way to help you prepare your speech!
We want ALL of our ākonga to find success and stand with confidence at the end of the term. You should always relate the theme to your interests and worlds first.
PERSONAL connection and topics driven by your worlds/interests will always lead to more MOTIVATION and ENGAGEMENT.
You could also consider ' Future focussed - 'go forward as kaitiaki' - what does going forward in life look like, sound like, feel like to them. What kind of world do you want to live in and how could you contribute? What is your dream job and WHY?
This term we are writing and preparing a speech to share before an audience. Here are some suggestions on how you can HOOK your audience into your speech!
