Bronze Co-ordinator
At Weydon we take pride in the large number of our Year 9 students who are keenly taking part in their Bronze DofE Award.
We see this as a huge opportunity for our young people to engage with and give something back to their local community through their volunteering. This must be for a non profit making group or organisation.
Alongside this the participants develop their skills and physical activities for an hour a week minimum over a three or six month period. We encourage them to take on the responsibility of recording this and communicating with their adult assessors themselves and those who do this gain massively in terms of their organisation, communication skills alongside their considence to speak to other adults.
The expedition section is the part most people know about! Our participants have to challenge themselves to learn navigation but also teamwork and campcraft skills in our beautiful natural environment.
We are all proud of them when they complete their introductory Bronze Award - but most importantly they are hugely proud of themselves and gain so much along their journey.
