WEEKLY PRACTICE SCHEDULE:
Practice will begin promptly at 3:30 on days when school is in session with a team meeting in the "blue" gym. (Wednesday will begin at 3:10.)
Athletes should be dressed properly and ready to work out directly after this meeting.
If athletes need to see the trainer for normal, maintenance treatment this should be done between 3:10-3:30.
Practice should conclude by 5:30 at the latest, but many days we will finish before that time.
The workouts are published here and athletes will be able to communicate with parents when they should be done.
SATURDAY WORKOUTS:
Saturday workouts will be from 9-10:30 a.m. These are mandatory workouts and athletes are expected to attend these workouts.
If an athlete does have a conflict they will need to work with their event coach on when they will complete this workout. They will need to notify the head coach of this conflict as well via email.
Throwers will typically not have Saturday workouts so they will not need to attend.
ABSENCES:
Athletes are expected to be at practice every day. We understand absences will occur but these should be kept to a minimum. Please try to schedule appointments around school and practice time. While academics are important modular scheduling provides students the necessary time to make up tests, missing homework and to meet with teachers during the day and not during practice time.
Students will be allowed 4 excused workouts before they are penalized. These absences need to be communicated to the coaching staff at least 24 hours in advance.
These absences would include participation in club sports, family vacations and events, etc. Mandatory school related events and illnesses will not count for these absences but they should still be communicated to coaches.
If an athlete accumulates more than 4 excused absences they will receive a one meet suspension for the next meet they would have participated in.
After an athlete has been suspended for a meet, if they accumulate two more excused absences they will be suspended for another meet.
If a student skips a workout and does not communicate this to their coaches this could result in a meet suspension regardless of how many absences they have accumulated.
If an athlete accumulates multiple unexcused absences this could result in dismissal from the team at the discretion of the head coach.
SPRING BREAK:
Workouts will be held during spring break at 9:00 am and athletes are expected to attend all workouts during these breaks.
We will also have meets during the week of Spring Break. Athletes are expected to be available for these meets.
CHEER, DANCE, and SHOW CHOIR
Athletes that are trying out for other school activities such as cheerleading, dance team and show choir are expected to communicate this to Coach Preister.
Athletes are still expected to attend track & field workouts during those conflicts. Athletes are expected to be at practice no later than 4:35 due to those conflicts..
