The Kickstart Online is a series of MCC courses that are scheduled for college-ready high school students to kickstart their college degree. These online college courses are provided in a 15-week format, count toward most MCC degrees, are transferable to many four-year institutions and are offered by NDE certified MCC instructors.
Nebraska resident high school students who meet course prerequisites.
College credits earned through Kickstart Online will appear on a student’s MCC transcript. MCC credits earned may transfer to other colleges or universities. Grades earned may impact future academic standing and financial aid eligibility. It's important to remember that the grades earned while taking a college credit course will count toward the student's college grade point average (GPA) and will be a permanent part of their postsecondary transcript.
Current Nebraska High School students, grades 9-12, are automatically eligible to take credit classes tuition free. Students in the ninth grade become eligible for the tuition waiver during the MCC Fall quarter. Students are responsible for tools, textbooks, and any other associated course fees.
Courses offered at Metropolitan Community College (MCC) have college-level content, subject matter, expectations and standards, and students will be held to those standards and graded accordingly.
It is the responsibility of the student to comply with the MCC Student Code of Conduct and all standards set forth in the course syllabus.
If a student under the age of 18 is enrolled in both a high school and a postsecondary institution, their parents still retain the right under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) at the high school, but postsecondary rights belong to the student. Students who wish to grant parental or third-party access to their educational records may do so through the Registrar's Office by submitting an Authorization to Release Student Information Form after course registration is complete.
