The West Orange visual art program begins in kindergarten and continues through high school, with an emphasis on creativity, visual literacy, and confident self-expression.
Elementary Art (Grades PreK-5)
Students explore drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, and ceramics, building skills in the elements and principles of design. Each grade level combines hands-on art making with the study of artists, cultures, and art history.
Middle School Art (Grades 6-8)
A three-year sequence of units including drawing, painting, ceramics, sculpture, and mixed media. Students experiment, reflect, and build confidence in their artistic voice.
High School Art (Grades 9-12)
Courses are offered in two sequences, Two-Dimensional Art and Three-Dimensional Design, for students pursuing personal enrichment or preparation for college and careers in the arts. Advanced options include AP Studio Art. Our high school also offers Art Club and National Art Honor Society as co-curricular experiences.
