West Orange High School is home to the award-winning Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program known as
MOUNTAINEER SQUADRON.
Established in 2013, the program instills discipline, pride, confidence and sense of belonging into its graduates and has helped its cadets earn college scholarships valued in excess of $8M.
CAMP FALCON is named after Falcon Air Force Base in Colorado, where Major Marchesini began his Air Force career.Â
CAMP FALCON seeks to instill in its students the same values and lessons learned in AFJROTC, while allowing our current cadet senior staff members to learn valuable lessons in planning, organizing and executing a major operation.
In addition to JROTC cadet senior staff, we receive support from distinguished alumni and professional partners including the No Limits Martial Arts Academy, West Orange Fire & Police Departments, Newark SWAT, and the US Army, Navy, Air Force & Marines.
Major Marchesini served 20 years on active duty in the United States Air Force.
His USAF jobs included Satellite Ops Officer, Nuclear Missile Combat Crew Commander & Chief of Warfighter Infrastructure, to name a few.
During OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM, Major Marchesini served in Afghanistan as Officer in Charge of Central Command's
Counter Narcotics Division.
In 2013 he retired from active duty and established the AFJROTC program at West Orange High school. Under his leadership, Mountaineer Squadron has won 8 consecutive DISTINGUISHED UNIT awards; the highest award an AFJROTC unit can receive.
