The Fourteenth Goldfish: A crazy scientific novel.
“In layman’s terms: I discovered a cure for aging.” His voice shakes with excitement. “In effect, I have discovered the fountain of youth!” Grandpa said, those scientific words changed Ellie’s life forever
The 14th Goldfish by Jennifer L. Holm is a beautifully written realistic fiction book. It is 190 pages long so it isn’t too easy but it won’t take you a really long time to read it. I found this book just right because it was somewhat long but I got it so therefore it was just right.
Something I liked about this book was that its characters were very realistic and didn’t all get along because not everyone gets along in real life, also it was funny and it made me think a lot when I got to the juicy part. Something that I like about the authors writing is that she was funny and there was a good amount of cliffhangers which I like. My favorite part of the book was the argument Ellie and Melvin got in but you’ll have to read to find what happens. I personally think that people in grades 3-5 should read this.
in the end, This book is a really good read. I give it a 5-star rating *****.

My Life As A Book: A book full of surprises you will never expect!
“I DON’T WANT TO READ THIS BOOK!” Derek shouted when his mom told him to read, he went to his attic and his mom said to him came back with a newspaper. And soon he discovered some news that his parents never told him from when he was little, and he wanted to find out more. My LIfe As A Book, By Janet Tashjian. This is a well written realistic fiction book about a boy who finds out about his surprising and dark past, he is shocked when he finds out about everything thats happened in his past. And he realized and might think that it was all his fault.
I enjoyed the fact that this book had many surprises and amazing memory moments. The book was amazing and I found myself chuckling at a million awesome jokes and other moments in this book. This 211 page book is full of hilarious moments and made me want to keep reading the book to find out more about the ways Derek figured out a bunch of surprising news about his past. The whole book gives you a great picture in your head about what’s happening. I highly recommend this book for you and i would add it to your list of “Books To Read”. I would give this book 4 ½ stars.

Big Bad Ironclad: Packed with action and heroic heroes a 118 paged book that will keep you constantly reading
“ANACONDA ANACONDA” said General Scott to Abraham Lincoln as they were in a emergency War Council in Washington, D.C. This book is very interesting because every page is full of naval action. It’s also part of series that have many other war stories in fact this phenomenal series is a New York Times Bestselling Series. The author of this fabulous book is Nathan Hale. The genre of this book is a historical fiction comic.
The book mostly follows the union navy and sometimes the confederate navy. In the book there is a character that is very funny and was the youngest Commander the U.S navy ever had. It's definitely not hard to read this book because it’s full of illustration and it’s a comic. I highly recommend to read this book for a lot of reasons.

The Land of Stories The Wishing Spell: A story that keeps you wondering what will happen next?
“Ahhh” Conner yelled as he watched his twin sister, Alex disappear into a book. And before he new it, he was in the book too. Chris Colfer an award winning actor creates an amazing fantasy taking all my favorite fairytales and weaving them into a modern story.
The Land of Stories book, was given as a gift from their grandmother. One day without even knowing it Alex turns the book into a portal. What she doesn’t understand is that she is part fairy. Once they are in the Land of stories, Alex and Conner desperately wish they were in their small rental house. They see amazing fairy tale landmarks and meet wonderful fairy tail characters as people while searching for the items of the wishing spell.
I loved this book because it kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when things are going good they get kidnaped or attacked. The story is a rollercoaster. When the twins are doing good the rollercoaster is high, and it is low when they have been kidnaped, attacked or if they lost and item to the wishing spell. Twice they got trapped by the goblins and trolls to be used as slaves. They were attacked by large wolves many times. Kidnapped by wolves and then the evil queen. They have a heck of an adventure and learn a lot about the evil queen’s childhood, a lot about their family and a lot about themselves.
If you ever crave some adventure, then check out the book The Land of Stories the Wishing Spell. Also, if you enjoy the first book there are 5 more books after the first. I rate this book five out of five stars. I hope you like this book as much as I do.

Small as an Elephant: The kind of book that is so emotionally written, it will bring tears to your eyes.
“’Phant was one of your first words.” Jack was always obsessed with elephants, even before he could speak. Small as an Elephant, a book by Jennifer Richard Jacobson, is an unforgettable 275 paged story that will leave you thinking about it for hours on end. In this realistic fiction book, eleven year old Jack Martel is abandoned by his mother during their vacation in Acadia National Park, and the tale follows Jack through his journey to find his mother. Small as an Elephant is a fantastic guided reading book, but also wonderful to read on your own.
I recommend this novel for the cliffhangers, complex characters, and that the author does an outstanding job of “putting you in the character’s shoes.” Readers who love elephants, adventure, or books about kids on their own, this book is for you. I award this book five stars for creativity, emotion, and because it is overall an amazing book. Newsday itself commented that “this story is phenomenal,” and it really is.

The Land of Stories, the Wishing Spell: A story that keeps you on your toes and keeps you predicting
“We will make it home!” Is the quote of hope that Alex and Conner Bailey hope will become true. Ever since their amazing dad died Alex and Conner have never been the same. Led by a journal(that is given to them by a friend that they find as soon as they get there) they begin their journey. But what they don’t know is the competition they have to complete the spell.
I like this book because it built a lot of suspense and the characters are very complex. I found myself biting my nails a lot during this story. I give this book 4.5 stars out of 5.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: A Funny book that makes me laugh
"Do not go in the room !’’ Mr. Wonka Exclaimed.’’ Why should listen to you ! ‘’ shouted Veruca’’ I want those squirrels! ‘’ Before it was too late she went in the room of death! Her mother exclaimed “Get my daughter back!” Charlie and the Chocolate factory is a fun and exciting book that you should definitely read!

Small As An Elephant: A good book with lots of twists and turns.
“What can burn in space?” she’d called out. “A rocket?” a tall bald man guessed, trying to play along. Small As An Elephant is an amazing realistic fiction book that will drag you in from page one. It’s a story about a boy named Jack having to survive in maine all alone because his mother left him. This made him do some bad stuff to survive, like lie, steal, ect, but with the help of many people, Jack overcomes the many challenges that come his way.
I like the fact that he somehow solves all the problems, and then a new one always pops up. Jack Is VERY persistent. I love the ending of the book. It is a HUGE plot twist, but also heart warming. I give Small As An Elephant 4 ½ stars.

My life as a book: A book about a trouble maker.
“Derek, what have l told you about going on the roof!” Derek’s mom said when Derek climbed on the roof to hide from his mom. This book by Janet Tashjian is mixed with humor and mysteries. Derek hates school and reading. When his mom tells him to read, he climbs on to the roof and into the attic where he finds a article about a girl who drowned and he wants to learn more about it. He’ll do whatever it takes to learn more. It turns out he may be more involved with the article about the girl than his parents thought.
Overall, it was a decent book. It is pretty short so you can finish it quickly. Also, the margins are shorter than usual because there are drawings on the sides of words in the book. I think the parts when he gets in trouble are funny, like when he dresses up a pet monkey named Pedro like a cowboy. If you like funny stories, then this is the book for you. I personally would give this book 4 stars.

Because of Mr. Terupt:“A story of one teacher that changes everything.”
“This year, for the first time in my life, I started thinking school could be fun.” Peter said in the beginning of the year when he met Mr. Terupt. This is a series by Rob Buyea about seven kids and their school years with Mr. Terupt. A tragic event happened that puts Mr. Terupt into coma that changed everyone's lives. The story takes place at Snow Hills School and a bit at the hospital where lays Mr. Terupt. This book is 268 pages and it’s a good book for readers that like realistic fiction. The characters in the book are Peter the jokester, Luke the brain, Alexia the queen, Danielle the pushover, and Anna the quiet one.
I enjoyed the book because there was a lot of action, and sometimes some fun jokes in some parts. This will be a good book for age 8-16 because most of it takes place in 5th grade. When I read this book I feel how the characters in the book feels. My favorite part of the book was when on the last day of school Mr. Terupt came back to celebrate. Also I like the part where Mrs. William the principle said that their class was gonna be looping which means that Mr. Terupt will be with them again. In the end the book was great it left be feeling all happy and cheerful. Overall I will give this book five stars.
Mr. Terupt made this class magical and they will never forget him, The Dollar-Word Man.

The War That Saved My Life: A sad book that makes you want to cry
“Smack” Mam slapped Ada on the back while she crawled back to the chair at the window. The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley is a well written realistic fiction that is about 11 year old Ada Smith and her brother, Jamie Smith, set out as evacuees to the town Kent, to escape from there scary mother, where they meet Susan Smith and Butter, the butter colored horse during the terrible world war two.
I enjoyed this book because it is a mix of sadness and happiness because at the start, they live with their mom, who did not bother Ada Smith’s clubfoot that has troubled her life, and instead, just called her a big cripple, until Ada escapes with her brother away from the London flat because of the big war that was about to rage on. They take a train to the town Kent, a town near the sea far away from London, where they meet Susan Smith, a person who has never wanted kids since her friend, becky died of pneumonia. Ada also meets butter, who is a horse that she loves because of the color of her fur. They go through lots of challenges such as injured soldiers coming from the town in France, Dunkirk also seeing bombs almost every night during the battle of Britain.. Ada becomes a hero when she captures a spy. She is well and very happy until someone comes. Mam. She was back to take them away. I would give this book a five star rating because of all the events that happen in the book. There are sudden events in the book such as Ada escaping London, and also mam coming back to take them even though she didn’t love both of them at all, but she liked Jamie more than Ada, letting him go outside and play with friends, but Ada had only ever met they’re neighbours on Elsa street though she didn’t know any of their names.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban: A REAL page turner that will leave you wanting more.
Danger. Disaster. Dementors. Harry Potter. This thrilling third novel to the Harry Potter series gives the fans the book that they’ve been waiting for, and the surprises they couldn’t dream of. J.K. Rowling has done it again with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This fantasy book brings you to the Wizarding World, where Harry Potter attends Hogwarts: School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This year brings more and more problems when Sirius Black, a highly dangerous criminal, claimed of killing 14 people with one spell, escapes from the wizard prison, Azkaban. He’s headed straight for Hogwarts, and Harry. Now, Harry isn’t safe where he is. On top of it all, there might be a traitor hiding close to his heart. These 435 pages are filled with anticipation, mischief, and page turning, heart racing, scenes.
I am a huge Harry Potter fan, and this book was my overall favorite out of all the books. J. K. Rowling has a fun writing style, and seems to find a way to always keep you interested. You feel all the ups and downs with the characters. You’ll get mad, annoyed, overjoyed, and excited. This book sets a really high barre that only the best high jumpers can hurdle. (That was a metaphor.) I think that all readers who LOVE a good read will highly appreciate this book, and treasure it dearly. This was an experience that I would never take back. So I think that you should give this masterpiece a try.

The Fourteenth Goldfish By Jennifer L. Holm: A scientific fiction story about friendship and family.
“Believe in the impossible Possible. ”On the cover of the book it says that and that quote I think stays true to the story because Grandpa Melvin does prove the impossible. Jennifer L. Holm created a well written story that includes drama, science, true friendship and real life situations, and is never boring because she always slows down the interesting parts and speeds up the uninteresting parts.
In the beginning the main character Ellie goes to preschool and her teacher gave everyone a goldfish to teach them about responsibility. Then later when Ellie was in fourth grade she found out she had 13 goldfish because her mom kept replacing them every time they died. Next, Ellie is at home with her baby sitter she thought of how she didn't know what her passion was. Her mom and dad were all about show business and wanted her to like it, but it was never her favorite. After that, out of of nowhere Ellie’s grandfather shows up (it does not sound weird but it is because he’s in a 13 year old body so it is). In the middle of the book Grandpa Melvin, Ellie, and a kid, Raj from school help grandpa get the T. melvinus out of his lab so grandpa can continue his science work because he’s a scientist. They try to get the T. melvinus 3 times but only the third time they succeed. In the end, Ellie and Raj go to a museum together and Ellie realizes that Grandpa Melvins idea about the T. melvinus was a bad idea. She tells Melvin what she thinks but he doesn’t what to believe it because he wants to be right. Finally Melvin realizes he’s wrong.
If you like science and a good cliff hanger, this is the book for YOU.

My Life As A Book: a book full of shocking pasts that will thrill you!
“I don’t want to read this book”, Derek shouted to his mother as he ran into his attic. He came out with a newspaper in his hands. “Why do we have this”, he asked? My Life As A Book by Jake Tashjian is a well written Realistic Fiction book with some illustrations. The book has some hilarious scenes along the way. It is about a young boy who discovers a dark secret about his past.
I enjoyed that this book had many surprises and made me laugh at many moments. This 211 page story is full of surprising, sad, funny, and happy moments that make me want to read the whole series. Although there were some moments that could be fixed, I strongly request that you read this book. I give this book a rating of 4 1/2 stars, and I know many other people who love it too.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: a fun page turner that you can’t put down.
“Harry Potter!” Dumbledore yelled into the great hall as he caught Harry’s name from the Goblet of Fire. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling is a fantasy thriller about a boy that is in his 4th year at a wizarding academy and has already defied and escaped Lord Voldemort, who is so intent on catching Harry, 2 but is somehow chosen to participate in the Triwizard tournament. Harry and his friends, Ron and Hermione help him along the way and prepare him for something nobody saw coming.
I enjoyed the characters and the creativity in this book and the conflict in it. Harry and his friends are always causing trouble and Harry makes a lot of enemies. Being a wizard there is a lot of creativity in everything, including the injuries and creatures, particularly the Blast-ended Skrewt, one of Hagrid’s animals. I rate this book 5 stars.

Mustang Mountain: Sky Horse
This breathtaking book about a ranch on a wilderness reserve on the Rockies keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the whole story.
In the beginning of the story Allison and Meg are on the way to Mustang Mountain for the summer. Allison is a snobby city kid and Meg is horse crazy, Becky isn’t sure how she’s supposed to deal with them but they’re better than nobody at all.
“Come on Jesse we can make it!” screams Alison over the bear’s roar. “No we can’t, I won’t make it, go without me” “No, I’m not leaving you, you’ll fall out of the tree and be his dinner without me holding you up here” “Fine I’ll try but if I can’t make the jump don’t come down to get me” “Not making any promises. Ready, set, jump!”
In the beginning of the story Allison and Meg are on the way to Mustang Mountain for the summer. Allison is a snobby city kid and Meg is horse crazy, Becky isn’t sure how she’s supposed to deal with them but they’re better than nobody at all
This book is only one of the amazing books in the mustang mountain series you should read them all, it’s totally worth it.

Ellie ( his granddaughter ) is Melivin’s sidekick and she gets to do many exciting experiments. But when Melivin turns into a kid, he loses his apartment and he had the T-Melvins in it so he has to get it back. He thinks that he will get a novel and he gets really excited.

My Life as A book~ Humeoursly Good~😂
“I DON”T WANT TO READ THIS BOOK!” Derek yelled because his teacher called him a reluctant reader Derek Fallon’s mother said he should use his time to read. WASTE his time is more like it.
My Life As a Book by Jake Tashjian & Janet Tashjian is a well-written realistic fiction novel about a perfect summer Derek thinks he's supposed to have. But he learns some secrets about his family. Derek Fallon was forced to read by his mother. He found something n the attic and it caused a big effect on his family.
I loved the fact that this book is realistic fiction and had everyone's own side of the story, including some conflict between the parents/ adults. This book was so funny I even found myself laughing during the many ways Derek tried to solve the Susan case. This 211 paged book is full of hilarious moments and makes you reading wondering what will happens next. The ending could have been a bit better, but I still found the book very enjoyable. I give this book 4 out of 5 stars :)
