In my art, I like to express my feelings and emotions at that specific point in time as I am making the piece. I use my artwork as a way to convey what I am feeling and thinking, which varies depending on when I am making the artwork. I often like to draw unusual combinations of objects and experiment with how I can fit them on a page together. This gives my art an almost surrealistic feel, which I prefer over hyperrealism. I hope that when viewers see my work, they can be inspired to create something that does not exist already; something completely original and new. This can be experimenting with a totally new medium, or new techniques. At the moment, I have multiple styles that I use interchangeably, but eventually, I will most likely settle with one style. This style will probably be a combination of all the styles I use currently. Once I have a uniform style, I will be able to create consistent artwork while also experimenting with new things to add to that style.
These two drawings were both created using pen techniques and detailed and small scale mark-making. While drawing these, I listened to music that allowed my imagination to explore new creatures and places.
First time trying realistic digital drawing. I observed a real egg and a photo of a face on Pinterest while drawing these. Below is a process video (with bg music!)
Another observational drawing. This time, of a strawberry that I had in front of me while I drew it. I added water droplets onto the strawberry to make it more “alive”. This took me roughly an hour to complete. (process video above)
In this piece, I decided to experiment with an unusual combination: Nike sneakers and octopi. I added the dripping and melting effect in order to make it look more liquefied, going along with the octopus and sea creature theme.
A third digital observational drawing process video! This time, I drew a cupcake to celebrate my friend's birthday. Since I couldn't give her a physical present due to the pandemic, I made a drawing for her virtually.
