After investigating and discussing the work of Nate Williams, a contemporary American illustrator, students use contour lines and geometric shapes to make a profile self-portrait. Once their portrait is drawn they used crayons to write adjectives that describe them or nouns that they like to show more of their personality and interests. The wax in the crayons resists the watercolor paint they used to brighten and complete the project.
