Still life painting
First I took a picture for my still life project. I took many pictures and used many different objects and positioned them in different angle. I took the picture in multiple different angle to find the best lighting to compliment the colors and objects. When I found the best photo snd printed it out I mixed colors to get unique tones and shade of colors found in the picture for my painting. Then I swatch the colors I mixed in color coordination and in gradient order. This helped me learn about color theory and how to get certain colors from others colors, and what colors best with others. Then I started my painting by painting the base colors and slowly put details of the glass and shadows.
This is the finished product of my first painting. I have never painted in my life, but the overall experience was pretty good. The hardest part about painting is color theory (finding the the mixture of multiple different colors to make a specific and special color). Another hard part about painting is that you can not work on a specific area at the same time or the paint will mix with each other, so painting is a long process of waiting for the layers to dry to be able to paint again. The next hardest obstacle I faced was setting up to paint, getting ready to paint, and cleaning up. When setting up you have to get wax paper and multiple colors of paint, get different kinds of brushes, knives (for mixing paint) get water, get paper towels, and find a nice flat surface to work on. When cleaning up it is a long process of cleaning all the brushes and utensils. However painting is limitless you can easily cover up mistakes overtime and can create texture using the motion of the brush in a certain direction and pressure applied. Painting is special because you can make colors that is unique and not found in quantities (buckets) and you can make multiple layers to create complex images.
