Westmont Junior High


Requirements:

Read Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly Hunt.

Students are required to provide 5 pieces of evidence from their reading. They are required to bring in these 5 pieces to their Literacy class during the first week of school.

Students are encouraged to read more than one book this summer. Evidence is only required for one book.

Eisenhower Junior High School 


Requirements:

Encourage students to read any books of their choice over the summer. Do not have a required reading assignment.



Herrick Middle School


Requirements:

All incoming 7th & 8th grade students are asked by the ELA department to read at least (2) books over the summer and complete the summer reading log. Books recorded should be books that have not been read before!

Requirements:

Sixth Grade Required for all students: The War That Saved My Life by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley 

Seventh Grade Required for all students: The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien 

Eighth Grade Required for all students: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak 



O’Neill Middle School


Requirements:

Student are to read a minimum of THREE books either from the suggested summer reading list or of your own choice. Students should read ONE fiction text, ONE nonfiction text, as well as ONE choice text. Also, you must choose books you have NOT yet read. 

All students will need to have read at least three books over the summer in order to complete an assignment/activity to be given in your Seventh or Eighth Grade Reading and Language Arts class.

No required summer reading. An optional summer reading program for the district is Maercker Passport. Activities will be posted digitally connected to 6 continents around the world in addition to encouraging reading.
