Medical Interventions is an in-depth lab-based exploration into human disease. In the first semester, we cover the topics of bacterial infection, epidemiology and the aftermath of infection, genetics and prenatal screening for genetic disorders. In the second semester, we do a comprehensive investigation of cancer as well as organ failure and organ transplant.
Prerequisite (classes you must take first): Human Body Systems

We do a variety of projects and labs including but not limited to:
testing for the presence of a pathogen
hearing screening
genetic screening for lung cancer
genetic screening for breast cancer
testing different substances for their effectiveness in preventing skin cancer
creating a working model of a prosthetic arm
learning to suture wounds
practicing laparoscopic surgery techniques
