medical interventions

Medical Interventions is an in-depth lab-based exploration into human disease.  In the first semester, we cover the topics of bacterial infection, epidemiology and the aftermath of infection, genetics and prenatal screening for genetic disorders. In the second semester, we do a comprehensive investigation of cancer as well as organ failure and organ transplant.

Prerequisite (classes you must take first): Human Body Systems

Students have the opportunity to earn college credit from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs!

If students successfully complete the first three courses in the PLTW Biomed sequence (PBS, HBS, and MI), they will receive a full biology credit (1.0 credit). In addition, if students successfully complete the fourth class in the PLTW Biomed sequence (BI), they will receive a half credit of health (0.5 credit)
