Students conceive, develop, shoot and edit their OWN documentary films!
In the 1st semester, students will create a short 5-minute video.
In the 2nd semester, students will create a longer 20-40 minute documentary.
This class is for students who are serious about going into the film industry, making their own films, and/or enrolling in a television/film degree program after high school.
Students do a LOT of writing in this class! During the year, we watch a minimum of four (4) professionally made documentaries. Students write a 2-page critical review (including an analysis of the story, structure and technique) for each film, and then conduct peer-reviews on the papers of their classmates.
Students should consider taking Intro to Visual Communications and Adobe Photoshop. Combining video production classes with these courses will help you earn a Video Production and Editing Certificate at Front Range Community College.
