Full practising certificates are for experienced teachers, who demonstrate they can independently use and meet the Standards | Ngā Paerewa.
Tūturu is for experienced teachers who have been and continue to be endorsed as meeting the Standards for the Teaching Profession | Ngā Paerewa. This means you are able to demonstrate that you independently use and meet the Standards | Ngā Paerewa.
To move from Tōmua | Provisional to Tūturu | Full (Category One): An endorsement from your professional leader that you have successfully completed a one or two year induction and mentoring programme, which has been supervised by a mentor who holds a Tūturu | Full (Category One) Practising Certificate, and that you have been endorsed as meeting the Standards | Ngā Paerewa
Once you have been issued with a Tūturu | Full (Category One) you will never be required to return to Tōmua | Provisional. You can renew your Tūturu or move to a Pūmau depending on your circumstances.
A Tūturu | Full Practising Certificate (Category One) is issued or renewed for three years.
An orientation morning for those Staff new to the school (January).
Regular attendance and involvement in a fortnightly (or as timetabled) meeting of all PCTs.
Completion in each of the 2 years of a “portfolio” of evidence that shows you have actively undertaken reflective teaching practice (this booklet is your guide for this).
Being mentored by someone in your subject department (this may be your TIC/HOD).
Being guided by the PCT Coordinator (who is also the Specialist Classroom Teacher).
Regular observations of, and discussions about, ongoing improvement in your teaching practice (Mentor teacher, HOD, SCT, Senior Leadership).
At the conclusion of your two years you will meet with the PCT coordinator to discuss your completed portfolio of evidence. You will then complete the online form on the Hapori Matatū portal with the PCT coordinator.
To log into Hapori Matatū, you first need an Education Sector Login (ESL). This is issued to you by the nominated Deputy Principal (Donna Pike). Please contact Donna for your ESL before applying for Tūturu. She will need a form of identification (e.g. driver's licence).
