WHAT DISTINGUISHES THIS AS "HONORS"?

*FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA:

Honors-level courses are specialized, advanced courses designed for 10th, 11th, or 12th graders who have already completed foundation work in the subject area. Courses must have a comprehensive final examination or a substantive, culminating project. The purpose of the final exam/project is for students to exhibit the depth of knowledge and sustained mastery of the subject material.

5 min- Introduction and Overview

10 min- Review the Homework Assignment due today

25 min- Activity / Research Time/ Discussion

5 min- Reflection and Receive Homework Assignment for Next Week

WHEN/WHERE DOES CLASS TAKE PLACE?

Honors Flex occurs weekly on (DAY TBD) during Flex, in my classroom (153).

WHAT IS THE HOMEWORK LOAD LIKE IN HONORS?

You will receive a 15 to 30-minute-long assignment each week and be expected to have it completed by the following week's Honors flex block. These completed assignments will be scored anywhere from 4 to 16 points.

WHAT ARE THE ASSESSMENTS LIKE IN HONORS?

In Honors, you will be exposed to a wider variety of summative assessments, from in-class discussions and video reflections to traditional exams, DBQ essays, and research projects. The final summative assessment in Honors is a self-driven research project on a topic of their choice that relates to one of the World History content standards and exhibits three different historical thinking skills.
