Advisory

As an advisory teacher, I will maintain the same group of students throughout their high school careers. Starting out as Freshmen, students will develop their Social-Emotional Learning skills while building a close-knit community to help each other grow into global citizens.

Focus on Social-Emotional Learning Skills

The five SEL competencies (self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision making, social awareness, and relationship skills), are vital to the teaching and understanding of social and emotional learning at school.

At Westlake Charter High School, we believe that Social-Emotional learning is just as important as academic learning. That is why we carved out 25 minutes for four days a week to discuss self-awareness, self-management, responsible decision-making, relationship skills, and social awareness.
