Course Description The Study Skills COMPASS Course is an elective class for students who are building their academic and executive functioning skills while navigating a path to college and career. The course curriculum focuses on “COMPASS” skills. Each week, students participate in activities that incorporate strategies focused on communication (effective writing, inquiry, critical reading, listening, and speaking), collaboration, organization and time management, mindset, preparation for college/career, achievement and application, study skills, and reflection to support their academic growth and 21st century skills. Students will increase awareness of their personal contributions to their learning, as well as their involvement in our school and community. Students will learn about the college/university system, conduct research projects, and interact with collaborative groups and peer tutors.
