What's this class about?
U.S. History is about learning and analyzing the stories of the people who shaped the nation we live in. During the semester, we will track the development of the United States from the Declaration of Independence to the present. We will focus on big ideas that surface many times throughout the United States's story, including:
Equity: Who gets to have rights, freedom, and opportunity?
Demographic Change: Who lives here, and what are their lives like?
Perspective: How do people or communities experience history differently?
Ultimately, the goal of U.S. History is not just to understand the past, but to empower ourselves to use lessons from the past to envision and create the world we want to inhabit.
