libros en español

I'll post our readalouds here so you can follow along at home, or reread as a family.

The Familiy Book (El libro de la familia) writted by Todd Parr details how all families have similarities and differences. We read it in class to reinforce vocabulary on family and show cultural comparisons between families in Spanish speaking countries and those traditions we honor in our own families.

Plátanos Van Con Todo written by Lissette Norman showcases the star of Dominican cuisine: el plátano! Please enjoy this bilingual readaloud with your student.

Contando con Frida written by Patty Rodriguez and Citlali Reyes is a bilingual counting book that includes some key aspects of artist Frida Kahlo's life. Feel free to share this with your student to review their numbers one through ten.

Buenas Noches, Luna by Margaret Wise Brown

While studying our greetings and goodbyes, I introduced our kindergarten and first grade students to the Spanish translation of the classic Goodnight, Moon

Isabel and Her Colores Go To School by Alexandra Alessandri

English, with its blustery blues and whites, just feels wrong to Isabel. She prefers the warm oranges and pinks of Spanish. As she prepares for class at a new school, she knows she's going to have to learn--and she would rather not! Her first day is uncomfortable, until she discovers there's more than one way to communicate with friends. This is a universal story about feeling new and making new friends.
