My name is Katie Estrada. This is my seventh year teaching at Westlake Academy and my eleventh year as a classroom teacher. I graduated from The University of Michigan with a dual concentration B.A. in English and Psychology. (Go blue!) After college, I was a Teach for America corps member and I taught middle school English in McAllen, Texas. Then, I moved to Mexico City, Mexico where I taught middle and high school English at Westhill Institute for three years and I completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching through Bridgewater State University. When I returned to Texas, I wrote for a curriculum support system adopted by 750+ school districts in the state. This year, I am excited to be teach DP Literature and MYP Project-Based Research. I am also coordinating Personal Project. I love teaching at Westlake Academy because of IB's focus on international-mindedness and because of the small, family-like atmosphere. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling and going on adventures with my husband and three children, Mia (4th grade) and Graciela (2nd grade), and Davis (two years old).
