This is my eleventh year teaching at Westlake Academy and my sixteenth year as a classroom teacher. I graduated from The University of Michigan with a dual concentration B.A. in English and Psychology. (Go blue!) After college, I was a Teach for America corps member and I taught middle school English in Pharr, Texas. Then, I moved to Mexico City, Mexico where I taught middle and high school English at Westhill Institute for three years and completed my Masters of Arts in Teaching through Bridgewater State University. When I returned to Texas, I wrote for a curriculum support system. Currently, I am a candidate for Masters of Library Science and School Library Certification at the University of North Texas.
This year, I am excited to be teaching 10th grade MYP English and serving as the Secondary Librarian. I love teaching at Westlake Academy because of IB's focus on international-mindedness and because of the small, family-like atmosphere. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling and visiting family in Michigan, North Carolina, and San Antonio with my husband, Victor, and our children Mia (8th grade) and Graciela (6th grade), and Davis (1st grade).
