Noon on Friday, May 9 through Noon on Sunday, May 11 @ KHTI Land, Cathey's Valley, CA
Sailing Crews
In keeping with the theme ‘Privateers of the World’ this year’s Cynagua-Mists War will include non-combatant participation in the war scenarios. This means you can join the melee without fighting! Let me break it down for you:
No authorization needed
No armor requirements
No need for weapons or armor
You will directly affect the battle!
To participate, you will need to build a ship and assemble a crew (see below). Crews will be expected to be mobile on possibly uneven terrain and will be active near the fighting, but not within range to be hit of course! Ship scenarios will offer crews the chance to earn coins through diplomacy and guile, and the crew that captures the most coins will earn a prize. (More about Coins)
In order to join ship scenarios, you must be part of a crew of sailors and have a ship. In the spirit of sportsmanship the ships and crews should be of similar size. Historical accuracy is encouraged and they can be as elaborate as you wish. A ship should adhere to these simple guidelines:
Ships will be moved by lifting and carrying
They should be six to eight feet long, and less than eight feet tall
The construction shouldn’t greatly obstruct the view of Marshalls, other ships, or audience
One sided ships are fine (a cardboard cutout will work), but two sided ships will look better for those watching
Ships will not need to float
Build your ship to survive at least a whole day of use, picking up, and moving around
Crews
Crews must be at least 2 members and up to 4.
Sailors should be able to lift the ship and walk around. If you expect to participate and are unable to do this PLEASE contact the event steward by May 1st for accommodations at kevinmillerdesigns@gmail.com
Ships and crews that stray too far from these guidelines will be handled differently
