MS Open House - Aug. 4th - 4:30 to 7 PM

Each academic teacher has a Google Classroom page where daily assignments are posted, information is shared, and assignments are turned in. It also has due dates, a calendar, helpful links, classroom resources and everything else that a student would need for success.
Please check Google Classroom daily on your student's Chromebook. Discuss the work completed in class and ask to see what they are working on. Every student should be able to explain their work and tell when it is due. Everything is saved on their Google Drive and can be accessed from their Chromebook.
Class work and homework is something that the teacher may use to see what the student knows in order to customize the teaching to better fit the student. The assignment will be checked for completeness and accuracy which will give the student an understanding of what skills they need to improve. This could mean extra studying, after school tutoring, additional work during Rider Skills, etc. Class work and homework absolutely must be completed but may not be graded. These things are all done to improve learning.
Quizzes, tests, projects, etc., are what we call summative assessments. It shows the progress students have made from the beginning to the end and their mastery of the learning target. Students should be preparing for these nightly. We would prefer that students study the material ten to fifteen minutes daily instead of trying to “cram” one night before a quiz or test. Students are responsible for knowing this material all year long, not just for the test or quiz.
Here students will find their grades, attendance and any upcoming assignments. Students should check this daily to be sure that they have no missing assignments. Parents should have their own access to progress book. Please contact your child’s homeroom teacher to get access.
