Social Studies

During the first trimester, students will be exploring the concept of citizenship.  We will study famous Americans to help us determine the character traits of a great leader.

We will learn the parts of a map and how to identify the land and water.  We will use a compass rose to identify directions and map keys to recognize symbols.  We will build our perspective and understanding of our home, town, state, country, continent and planet.

Our diversity unit will give us the opportunity to recognize our similarities and differences.  We will explore various cultures and holidays.

Our last unit of the year  will be learning about goods and services in economics. We all will learn that Kimball's, our favorite ice cream stand, provides both a good and a service! We will also discuss wants and needs and the financial choices families make.
