To ensure data security and privacy, students are granted access to our network resources, including email and Google Drive, while enrolled in our schools. Students who leave the district during the school year will have their accounts deactivated and deleted on their last day in the district. Accounts for graduating seniors are deactivated and deleted on June 30 following graduation.
Fire Drills are designed to develop behaviors that will result in the orderly evacuation of the building in the event of an emergency. Each classroom teacher is responsible for providing directions to the students and for leading his/her class from the building. The state requires that schools run one fire drill per month.
In a fire or evacuation drill, students should leave the classroom, exit the building and not stop until they reach the designated area. A fire evacuation plan is posted in each room. Students should study the plan and become familiar with it. No one is to return to the building until the signal is given by the principal or their authorized representative.
In keeping with our school security protocols, all outside doors are locked except for the brief entry period at the start of each day. Students are prohibited from propping any doors open and will face disciplinary consequences for doing so. Also, a dropbox is kept outside the main entrance for family members to drop off items that students left at home but need for school. The dropbox items are brought inside between periods each day.
State Law also requires one additional drill per month. As with fire drills, these security drills must be carried out as if there were truly an emergency situation. These drills include: - Shelter in Place
- Hold the Bells
- Multi-Casualty Incident (MCI)
- Lockdown or Active Shooter
- Bomb Threat
- Evacuation
Pupils have certain responsibilities in order to make sure that the drills are carried out effectively. Teachers will review emergency procedures for each type of drill during homeroom.
1. At the sound of the announcement, pupils should cease talking immediately.
2. Students must follow the direction of the teacher and staff during the drill.
3. In an evacuation drill as with a fire drill, students should leave the classroom, exit the building and not stop until they reach the designated area. An evacuation plan is posted in each room. Students should study the plan and become familiar with it. No one is to return to the building until the signal is given by the principal or his authorized representative.
All students are required to wear their school-issued ID on a lanyard at all times. This matches the identification standard already in place for staff, substitutes, contractors, and visitors.
IDs are used for check-in during daily arrival to school and security events. Wearing them on a lanyard keeps them accessible and lets staff visually confirm that someone is part of the school community.
