Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why are you doing a lottery this year?
Camp has been extremely popular the last few years that it was held. It was decided that a lottery is the best way to give every camper an equal opportunity for enrollment.

When will I know if my camper was selected from the lottery?
You will receive an automatic email response stating that your sign-up for the lottery has been processed after you hit submit. A separate email will be sent on or before February 19, 2024, notifying you if your camper was selected.

What should I do if I register my camper for the lottery but I need to change the session or they change their mind about the workshops they would like to be enrolled in?
You will receive an automatic email response stating that your sign-up for the lottery has been processed after you hit submit. In that email, you will be given the option to update your responses. Changes can be made up until the time that lottery sign-up closes.

How do I pay and when is payment due?
The email stating your camper's enrollment into the chosen session will contain details about payment. We are asking for you to remit payment (either online or by check) within 5 business days of receiving the confirmation.  If your camper no longer wishes to attend, we can offer the spot to someone else.

What will my camper’s day look like?
Each camper is enrolled in 4 different workshops, giving them the opportunity to explore different topics of interest. Each workshop lasts, approximately an hour, with a 5 minute break in between periods.

Why do you ask for 4 workshops and 3 alternates?
We cannot guarantee that a camper will be enrolled in their top 4 choices, as we need to cap how many students are in each workshop. We ask for the camper’s 4 top choices and 3 alternates so that we may place your camper in a workshop they would enjoy attending. Typically, campers are placed in 3 of their top 4 workshops.

When will I know my campers schedule?
Schedules will be sent out to all campers approximately 1 month before camp starts.

Can I change my camper’s schedule after it is received?
No. Most workshops reach full enrollment capacity, and we do not have the availability after scheduling to change workshops.

Where do I drop-off my camper?
Students will enter Edison Intermediate School in the back of the building, on the right hand side by the fenced-in baseball field.

What time is drop-off?
Doors will open at 8:20 am.

What if my camper is going to be late?
If you know ahead of time, please let us know by emailing sbonasera@westfieldnjk12.org. We take attendance every period. If your camper isn’t in a workshop as expected, we will call you! When they do arrive, we ask that you enter at the main entrance.

What time is pick-up?
Workshops begin dismissing at 12:30 and we supervise campers outside until 12:45.

Where is pick-up?
Campers are escorted to the same door as drop-off.

What if my camper needs to leave early?
If you know ahead of time, please let us know by emailing sbonasera@westfieldnjk12.org. Enter through the main office and the camp nurse will then meet you and your camper so that you can sign them out.

What do I do if my camper takes medication during the day?
Please make arrangements with the nurse to come and administer the medicine for your camper. Camp staff is unable to administer medication.

Are snacks allowed?
For grades 3-5, your camper may have a small snack. Please remind them that they should not share snacks with other campers.

Can my camper have water during the workshops?
Yes! We encourage you to send a labeled, capped water bottle.

Is lunch provided?
No. There is no lunch period in camp.

My camper changed their mind, how do I get a refund?
Refunds will only be issued for up to 10 days after receipt of payment or until June 1, 2024, whichever comes first. After that time period, we can no longer issue a refund. The monies collected for camp are used to pay for the necessary software and supplies. To access the refund policy, click here.
