Accelerated Math 6

Course Description

Accelerated Math 6 links to and builds on students’ elementary mathematics experiences, provides for the acquisition and mastery of essential skills, and introduces new concepts or revisits familiar ones in greater depth. There is a strong emphasis on understanding of and computing with rational numbers, rates and ratios, basic algebraic expressions and equations, statistical thinking, area and volume. Additional areas of focus include applying proportional relationships, working with exponents and linear equations, solving problems involving similarity and congruence, and statistical inference. In this course, students are challenged to think about mathematics, work collaboratively, and solve meaningful problems.

Online Textbook

 We use the Big Ideas Green Textbook, which will be distributed in class for you to take home and keep at home.  Please register to use the online versions of both textbooks as well.  Follow the textbook registration directions, which will be provided on Classroom.  You may also use the textbook’s online platform on Big Ideas Math as an additional resource.  On their website select "Sixth Grade" and "New Jersey" from the drop-down menus, then select "Easy Access to Book."   This will bring you to an online copy of our textbook that you can access from anywhere.
