Appeal and Acceleration Information
Appeal information:
Purpose: Students currently enrolled in Math 6 seeking an appeal of their placement into Math 7.
To qualify for an appeal: Students must have met two of the placement criteria. If the third placement criteria has been missed by two points or less, a student qualifies to request an appeal.
Process: A parent must contact the mathematics supervisor for the appeal application. If the student has met the qualifications for the appeal, they will be offered the opportunity to take an algebra aptitude test (June or August). To be scheduled for Pre-Algebra 7, the student must earn a raw score of 44 or higher on the assessment. If the student does not accomplish this score, they will be scheduled for Math 7. This assessment is not based on what a student has learned during the prior year, but how they read, analyze and interpret mathematical information when presented for the first time.Â
